Buy Back Policy
Effective Date: 24/08/2026
Last Updated: 14/09/2026
At Fabteriors, we believe good furniture should have a life beyond its first home.
Our Buy-Back Programme is designed to encourage customers to return eligible Fabteriors furniture to us when they no longer need it, allowing suitable pieces to be restored, reused or given a second life.
The programme supports our commitment to making furniture that lasts, reducing unnecessary waste and extending the life of well-crafted furniture.
Buy-back is a separate programme from our Returns & Refund Policy and does not function as a guaranteed refund or exchange mechanism.
1. What is the Fabteriors Buy-Back Programme?
The Fabteriors Buy-Back Programme allows eligible customers to request that Fabteriors consider purchasing a previously purchased Fabteriors product from them.
Depending on the condition, age, design, materials and other factors, Fabteriors may:
· Purchase the furniture;
· Restore and resell it;
· Reuse or repurpose components;
· Refurbish it for another customer; or
· Decline the buy-back request.
Submission of a buy-back request does not guarantee that Fabteriors will purchase the furniture.
Every piece is subject to assessment.
2. Eligibility
The programme is intended primarily for genuine Fabteriors products purchased through Fabteriors or an authorised source.
A product may be considered for buy-back where:
· It can reasonably be identified as a Fabteriors product;
· The customer can provide reasonable proof of purchase or ownership;
· The product is in a condition that makes restoration, reuse or resale commercially viable; and
· The product falls within the categories currently accepted by Fabteriors.
Fabteriors may decline products that do not meet its eligibility requirements.
3. Products That May Not Qualify
A product may be declined where it:
· Has been substantially modified without Fabteriors' approval;
· Has significant structural damage;
· Has been exposed to conditions that have materially affected the furniture;
· Has extensive infestation, mould or moisture damage;
· Has been repaired or altered in a way that compromises its integrity;
· Cannot reasonably be restored;
· Is incomplete or missing significant components;
· Cannot be reasonably authenticated as a Fabteriors product; or
· Is otherwise unsuitable for the programme.
Fabteriors may also temporarily exclude particular product categories from the programme.
4. Condition of the Furniture
The condition of the furniture is one of the principal factors considered during the buy-back assessment.
We may consider:
· Structural integrity
· Condition of the wood
· Surface condition
· Finish
· Upholstery, where applicable
· Hardware
· Missing or damaged components
· Signs of repair or modification
· General wear and tear
· Age of the product
· Extent of restoration required
Normal signs of use do not automatically disqualify a product.
The extent and cost of restoration will affect the valuation.
5. How the Buy-Back Process Works
The process generally follows these steps:
Step 1 — Submit a Request
Contact Fabteriors with details of the furniture you would like us to consider.
Please provide:
· Name;
· Contact details;
· Product name;
· Approximate date of purchase;
· Original order/invoice details, where available;
· Current location;
· **Clear and detailed photographs of the complete furniture, including all sides, visible surfaces, legs, joints, hardware and any areas showing damage, wear or modification**;
· Photographs of any damage or modifications; and
· Any other relevant information requested by Fabteriors.
Detailed photographs and videos must be shared and reviewed by Fabteriors before the furniture is shipped, transported or handed over for buy-back.
Step 2 — Initial Assessment
Fabteriors will review the information provided and determine whether the product appears suitable for further assessment.
An initial assessment does not constitute a final buy-back offer.
Step 3 — Physical Inspection
Where appropriate, Fabteriors may arrange a physical inspection of the furniture by the team.
The inspection may be conducted by Fabteriors or a person/partner authorised by Fabteriors.
The inspection will help determine:
· Authenticity;
· Condition;
· Structural integrity;
· Restoration requirements;
· Marketability; and
· Estimated restoration cost.
Step 4 — Valuation
If the product qualifies, Fabteriors will determine a buy-back value based on the relevant factors.
Where Fabteriors considers it necessary or appropriate, the assessment and valuation may be reviewed or supported by Fabteriors' internal legal team and/or suitably qualified internal or external experts, including experts in furniture condition, restoration, materials, valuation, marketability or related technical matters. Such review may be undertaken particularly where there is uncertainty regarding ownership, authenticity, title, prior modification, structural condition, restoration requirements, legal/compliance considerations or expected resale/reuse value.Technical and valuation experts may assess condition, structural integrity, restoration requirements, material quality, restoration cost, marketability and expected resale or reuse value.
The final buy-back offer will remain a commercial offer by Fabteriors and will be subject to the applicable terms of this Policy. The involvement of any legal team member or expert does not create a separate valuation entitlement for the customer.
The valuation may take into account:
· Original product;
· Current condition;
· Age;
· Original purchase price;
· Current product/design relevance;
· Material quality;
· Extent of wear;
· Restoration cost;
· Transportation/collection cost;
· Expected resale or reuse value; and
· Other relevant commercial factors.
The original purchase price does not guarantee the buy-back value.
Step 5 — Offer
If Fabteriors decides to proceed, the customer will receive a buy-back offer.
Depending on the condition of the furniture and the outcome of the assessment, Fabteriors may offer a buy-back value of up to 50% of the applicable original purchase value. The actual amount offered may be lower and will be determined solely on the basis of the condition, age, restoration requirements, marketability and other relevant factors.
The offer will specify the amount offered and any relevant conditions.
The customer may accept or decline the offer.
Step 6 — Collection & Transfer
Once the offer has been accepted, Fabteriors will coordinate the collection or handover of the furniture. The furniture should remain in substantially the same condition as it was during the assessment. If there is a material change in condition before collection, Fabteriors may reassess or withdraw the offer.
6. Buy-Back Valuation
Buy-back value is determined individually and is not a guaranteed percentage of the original purchase price. Where the furniture qualifies for buy-back, Fabteriors may offer a value of up to 50% of the applicable original purchase value, depending on the condition of the furniture sent back and the outcome of Fabteriors' assessment. The buy back value is only given in store credit.
The actual buy-back value may be substantially lower than 50% and may be reduced to reflect:
· Age;
· Current condition;
· Structural condition;
· Wear and tear;
· Damage or missing components;
· Restoration requirements;
· Transportation or collection costs;
· Current product/design relevance;
· Expected resale or reuse value; and
· Other relevant commercial factors.
Furniture is a long-term product, and its value after years of use depends considerably on its condition and restoration potential.
The maximum 50% figure is not a guaranteed entitlement and does not constitute a fixed valuation formula.
Fabteriors' assessment and resulting offer will reflect the condition and potential of the individual piece.
Expert Review: Where required for a particular buy-back assessment, Fabteriors may refer the matter to its team and/or a suitably qualified expert team for verification, technical assessment, restoration-cost analysis, valuation support, marketability assessment, ownership/title review or other due diligence. The extent of such review will be determined by Fabteriors based on the circumstances of the individual transaction.
7. Restoration Costs
Where a product requires restoration before it can be reused or resold, the estimated restoration requirement may be considered when determining the buy-back value.
This may include:
· Surface restoration
· Polishing
· Refinishing
· Structural repairs
· Replacement components
· Upholstery work
· Hardware replacement
· Cleaning
· Other restoration work
The customer does not separately pay Fabteriors for restoration work where Fabteriors has purchased the furniture under the Buy-Back Programme.
The expected restoration requirement may, however, affect the amount offered for the furniture.
8. Collection & Transportation
Where Fabteriors agrees to purchase a product, collection arrangements will be communicated to the customer.
Depending on the location and nature of the furniture, collection may be:
· Arranged by Fabteriors;
· Coordinated through a third-party logistics partner; or
· Arranged through another mutually agreed method.
Any shipping, transportation, collection or related logistics cost required to send the furniture to Fabteriors, or otherwise required to complete the buy-back, will be borne by the customer.
Where Fabteriors assists with arranging logistics, the applicable cost may be communicated to the customer before the buy-back is finalised.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that the furniture is properly packed where required and safely accessible for collection or handover.
9. Proof of Purchase & Ownership
Fabteriors may request reasonable evidence that the customer owns the furniture.
This may include:
· Original invoice
· Order number
· Purchase confirmation
· Other documentation
· Photographs or identifying information
Where the original purchase documentation is unavailable, Fabteriors may request other information to establish the product's authenticity and ownership.
Fabteriors may decline a buy-back request where ownership or authenticity cannot reasonably be established.
10. Ownership Transfer
Ownership of the furniture will transfer to Fabteriors only after:
· The buy-back offer has been accepted;
· Any required inspection has been completed;
· The agreed conditions have been satisfied; and
· The agreed buy-back amount has been paid or the applicable transaction has otherwise been completed.
Until the transaction is completed, the customer remains responsible for the furniture.
11. Payment
Once the buy-back has been accepted and the required collection/handover conditions have been completed, Fabteriors will issue the agreed buy-back value solely in the form of Fabteriors Store Credit.
Buy-back value will not be paid in cash, bank transfer or any other cash-equivalent form, except Fabteriors Store Credit.
The Store Credit will be valid for 2 (two) years from the date of issue and may be used towards eligible purchases from Fabteriors, subject to the terms communicated with the Store Credit.
Store Credit is not transferable, refundable or redeemable for cash unless otherwise required by applicable law.
Any applicable tax or legal requirements relating to the transaction will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
12. Changes in Condition
The valuation is based on the condition of the furniture at the time of assessment.
If the condition changes materially before collection or handover, Fabteriors may:
· Reassess the furniture;
· Revise the offer; or
· Withdraw the offer.
The customer will be informed before any revised transaction is completed.
13. Buy-Back Is Not a Return, Refund or Warranty Remedy
The Buy-Back Programme is completely separate from Fabteriors' Returns & Refund Policy and Warranty Policy. A customer cannot use the Buy-Back Programme to bypass the applicable return, cancellation or refund conditions for a recently purchased product.
For example, if a customer changes their mind shortly after purchasing furniture, the appropriate process is to refer to the applicable Returns & Refund Policy, not the Buy-Back Programme.
Similarly, a product that has a genuine manufacturing or workmanship defect covered by the 5-Year Warranty Programme should be dealt with under the warranty process and not converted into a buy-back claim.
A warranty claim, warranty repair or warranty replacement does not create, increase, reset or extend any buy-back value or buy-back eligibility.
Buy-back is intended primarily for furniture that has already been owned and used and is being voluntarily offered for a potential second life.
14. Buy-Back Does Not Guarantee the Original Purchase Price
Fabteriors does not guarantee that a previously purchased product will retain its original purchase value.
Furniture is subject to normal depreciation, wear and changing market conditions.
The buy-back amount may therefore be substantially lower than the original purchase price.
The final amount offered will depend on the individual product and its assessment by the expert.
15. Natural Wood & Handcrafted Characteristics
Fabteriors furniture may use real wood and traditional handcrafted techniques.
Natural changes in wood may occur over time, including changes in:
· Colour
· Tone
· Grain appearance
· Surface character
These changes are not necessarily considered damage.
Fabteriors will assess the overall condition and structural integrity of the furniture when determining its buy-back eligibility and value.
16. Refusal of Buy-Back
Fabteriors reserves the right to decline a buy-back request.
A request may be declined where:
· The product does not meet eligibility criteria;
· The product cannot be authenticated;
· The condition is unsuitable;
· Restoration would not be commercially viable;
· Collection is not reasonably feasible;
· The product is outside the categories currently accepted;
· Required ownership information cannot be provided; or
· Fabteriors otherwise determines that the product is unsuitable for the programme.
A declined buy-back request does not affect any other rights or remedies the customer may have under applicable law.
17. No Guaranteed Resale
Acceptance of a product into the Buy-Back Programme does not guarantee that Fabteriors will subsequently resell it.
After acquisition, Fabteriors may determine whether the furniture is:
· Restored;
· Refurbished;
· Repurposed;
· Used for parts/material recovery; or
· Otherwise handled in accordance with its business practices.
18. Customer Responsibility Before Collection
Until the furniture has been collected or formally handed over to Fabteriors, the customer remains responsible for:
· Keeping the furniture safe;
· Maintaining its condition;
· Providing reasonable access for collection;
· Informing Fabteriors of any material change in condition;
· Providing the required detailed photographs before shipping or transportation; and
· Bearing applicable shipping, transportation and collection costs as specified under this policy.
The customer must not materially alter, repair, dismantle or otherwise change the furniture after assessment without informing Fabteriors.
If the furniture received by Fabteriors materially differs from the condition represented in the photographs or assessed before shipment, Fabteriors may reassess the furniture, revise the offer or decline the buy-back.
19. Programme Availability
The Buy-Back Programme may not be available in every location or for every product at all times.
Fabteriors may modify, suspend or discontinue the programme subject to applicable law.
Changes to the programme will not affect a buy-back transaction that has already been formally accepted by both parties, unless otherwise agreed or required by law.
